Plans
Harness has two plans: Open (free) and Resident (paid). Managed inference is always metered and available on either plan, so the plan you are on is about durability and depth, not about how much AI you can use.
Open
Free, forever.
- Screen awareness, screen history, watches and on-device memory.
- Harness Relay with all your agents, the desktop app and your phone.
- The extension and browser tasks.
- Run your own model or endpoint, or bring a Venice, Bankr, OpenAI or Dot key.
- $5 of managed inference to start, top up any time.
Open is a complete product. Your memory and screen understanding are fully local, and nothing about Resident is required to use Harness every day. In the hosted product, turn orchestration still transits Harness even when the answering model runs locally.
Resident
Resident is the one paid plan. It sells durability and depth, not a bigger inference allowance.

- Encrypted backup of your memory and conversations, with a key only you hold.
- Encrypted restore and device handoff: carry your full history to another device.

- Background tasks that keep going after you close the tab.
- Automations that work on a schedule.

Two ways to unlock Resident
In Settings → Plan & billing, under unlock resident:
- Pay monthly: $7.99 / month by card.
- Hold tokens: hold or stake the required amount of $HARNESS, and Resident stays on while you do. See Hold to unlock.
Both reach the same Resident. Whichever you use, you get the same features.
Managed inference and credit
Managed inference is pay-as-you-go for everyone, on either plan:
- Every account starts with a one-time $5 of managed inference free on signup.
- Top up in $10, $20, $50, or $100 packs, by card or in USDC.
- Or bring your own key and skip managed inference entirely.
There is no recurring inference allowance bundled into Resident. The only free inference credit is the one-time $5 signup grant.
Pay with USDC
You can pay for credit in USDC on Base instead of by card, at a small discount shown at checkout. Choose pay with USDC when you top up, connect your wallet, and send the payment. The credit is the same managed-inference credit a card buys, and it is added only after Harness confirms the payment on-chain. Your browser never asserts that a payment happened.
Credit you buy can also be resold to other people on the marketplace.
